EPA - Do They Really Protect??

My eyes have been recently opened! I have to say that is not such a great thing!

I think DENIAL is EASIER.

EPA - Environmental Protection Agency????? NOPE NOT QUITE

it is more like

EPA - Everyone Protect (your own) ASS

Toxic Waste is a Nationwide Issue.

I grew up in Wilmington, Illinois in a tiny neighborhood filled with corn fields, wildlife, beautiful oak trees on the Kankakee River. My childhood was far off from city life problems, quiet, serene and yet it wasn't.

C.L. Hale Septic decided to dump toxic waste for Kraft Foods and Mobil. He filled his beautiful land and ponds with over 1,000 55 gallon barrel toxic waste drums. It sat open for 30 years polluting all the neighboring homes who all had 20 ft. wells. Chromium 6, Arsenic, Mercury, and other poisons seeped into our drinking water. We drank Toxic Kool Aid growing up. After just recently learning about the Coal Ash problem we have, I wonder if that also was dumped in those ponds???

Now we have a pletera of Cancers, Suicides and very, very sick people. 21 suicides in a 4 mile radius. Alot of infertility, hysterectomies, lymphomas, Crohns Disease, breast cancer (21 girls out of a 40 girl class) and more!

There was one EPA agent who I believe wasn't paid off. He was one that realized the case numbers had been switched on Hale's Site. He was the one that stated immediately in 1989 that this was a HUMAN AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD AND NEEDED TO BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY.

10 years later Kraft Foods and Mobil were ordered to remove over 1,000 oozing barrels of toxic waste and over 1,600 semitruck loads of toxic waste soil. The EPA did not go to the neighboring homes to advise them having their water tested and they did not come back the mandatory 3 years to reevaluate. We notified everyone that we could on Facebook this winter, February of 2010. Many local people had not a clue that they were living next to a SuperFund SITE.

I notified EPA and ordered the records on all of this. There are 130 files for our little neighborhood's toxic waste site which is unbelievable for being a residential area. Thank God that we have the water records showing the lethal toxicity of the water as "someone" set fire to all the water records in the Will County building.

We also learned from a neighbor that Mr. Hale was seen dumping every afternoon out past Ritchie on Rt. 102 out on some farm property. We notified the EPA telling them that there are more barrels and that the people in the Ritchie area were sick with Cancer, many have died, and there have been some suicides also. Arsenic is known for neurological damage.

My brother delivered the newspaper to Mr. Hale everyday in his preteens. There were days that my MOM could barely get whatever he stepped in off his legs. You see, Mr. Hale would hose down the back of his dump truck every day in his driveway and let the oozy stuff just run down the road and eventually make it's way into the Kankakee River.

My brother had severe emotional problems after that and then committed suicide at the age of 22. There have been 21 suicides of people who have lived within 1 mile of Hales property. I know there is a direct link between ARSENIC and SUICIDE.

But EPA chooses not to remove the how many other thousands of toxic waste barrels in our hometown area as they sit oozing out more cancers and more deaths. Shame on you EPA. Better change your name because the one you have does not fit.

  1. Senator Frank Lautenberg introduced the
Safe Chemicals Act and in a video of a public
hearing on February 4, 2010 the Senator
explains that Lisa Jackson of the Environmental
Protection Agency also advocates for this
because "the EPA can not protect us with
one arm tied behind it's back".

The video of the hearing that was made
prior to the Gulf Oil Disaster and before
the use of Corexit is posted at:

The EPA had recommend that Corexist NOT BE
USED by BP with the Gulf Oil Disaster and BP
    did anyway.

  2. To all the people who live in this toxic waste area of
Wilmington, Ill. We have lost two children from the toxic chemicals. Our oldest has 4 auto immune diseases that could are life threatening, our son has severe pains in his legs, arms & ankles, so severe that he was diagnosed with Lou Garich's disease. We lived with this fear for over 6 months until it was proven that he didn't have this disease, still no explanations for the severe pain, my husband has lung problems, I've suffered severe depression for years, my lungs are filled with nodules so bad that my lung ex-rays look like polka dot fabric. I also have asthma, thyroid disease.
Now for all you people who set with their heads in the sands not wanting to get involved. How much is your child & family worth? Not much if you choose silence instead of a solution. Lets get this area cleaned up so we don't have to loose the ones we love.
